Suffolk County Police arrested a homeless man in connection with two burglaries in Mastic Beach. 42-year-old Derrick Clancy was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary. Police say Clancy confessed to attacking two women in their 70s in the two separate burglaries, punching one woman in the face and attempting to rape her. Clancy is a registered level three sex offender. He has a rape conviction from 2000. He is scheduled to face a judge today.
