Residents in the area said they heard a boom at a homeless encampment near 16th and Sherman in Denver. Afterward, a fire quickly began to spread. Fortunately, the fire didn’t spread outside of the encampment and no one was hurt. The fire comes at a time when Mayor Mike Johnston is having trouble trying to convince the citizens of Denver his plan of using sanctioned tent cities, micro-communities, and hotels will end homelessness in the city.
