Denver Mayor Mike Johnston says he is on track to house 1000 homeless people into transitional housing by year’s end as part of his House1000 initiative. So far only 183 people have been gotten off the street through this program, but the Mayor is confident he will hit his goal.
Johnston has other problems contributing to the city’s homeless problem, like the influx of migrants and record-high evictions. These are two groups that will end up on the streets if nothing is done to help them.
The Mayor has his hands full this Winter but is very hopeful and optimistic about the future and success of his administration.
