City officials in Mesa received a lot of pushback from the community on plans to convert a hotel into a temporary shelter for families and seniors experiencing homelessness. The city is taking a new approach by introducing an ordinance that rezones the hotel property and allows it to be used as a social service facility. The city council will review the project again on Nov. 6.
