Sitting across the street from the old Westside Pavillion is an empty parking lot that has been the talk of West LA. Its future use has been hotly debated since August when Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky proposed a 33-unit interim housing facility would be developed on the city-owned parking lot. She experienced a massive amount of opposition and frustration from the Midvale and Rancho Pico residents over safety concerns.
Today’s 14-0 vote by the City Council moved the project forward and approved $4.6 million in funding for construction and initial operation. The site is said to have 24/7 security and onsite wrap-around services. The project is expected to open in 2024.
