Salt Lake City’s first sanctioned homeless campground is almost ready to open. It just needs one last thing. A leader. No one has been chosen to run the site. None of the bidders could meet the requirements to run the campground. Bids are still being accepted with hopes to open mid-December.
The pods located on the site come with insulation, heating, and cooling units along with fold-up beds and tables. They are made by a company named Foldum and will house up to 50 people. The total cost comes to $640,000 for 27 pods.
