The Safe Stay tiny home community in South Sacramento has been open for about two months but still sits half-empty. Staff and residents there say that’s a good thing because they are taking the necessary time to properly screen potential residents with a background check. The temporary site has 61 people currently housed and has room for a total of 125. Residents are fed meals and have access to some services.
