At the request of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, City Council has denied Colorado Coalition for the Homeless a contract worth $6.4 million over three years. The Mayor’s administration noted that the two camps had a difference in approach to getting homeless into long term housing, and needed more time to iron out a clear path to that goal. Colorado Coalition for the Homeless spokesperson Cathy Alderman said the original contract had 90 people being housed over a quarter into long term housing. That changed into moving 500 people indoors, using pallet shelters, hotels, and other santioned projects by the city.
