The Garden City Rescue Mission surpassed its goal of raising $495,000 to purchase the property they have operated out of for more than 20 years. The property owners leased the building rent-free 22 years ago, but in March the owners decided not to renew it. The shelter managed to raise more than $524,000, giving them a chance to not only buy the property but expand their services. Garden City Rescue Mission currently operates an overnight shelter that houses 40 men on a day-to-day basis, offering them a variety of services.
