Salvation Army Looks For Salvation
I remember a time when homeless shelters were completely against accepting funding from the proceeds of marijuana. Boy have times changed. The Salvation Army is looking for weed money and Snoop Dog has stopped smoking it. We are truly in the Upside Down.
The residents of Aurora, Colorado seem to be following in Snoop Dog’s footsteps and taking a break from marijuana, causing sales to drop lower than ever. This creates a serious problem for the Salvation Army. The two sanctioned outdoor sites they run for the homeless depend on those sales. The Salvation Army’s funding from the city was cut by a whopping 82% and they are scrambling for money elsewhere with no luck. “It produced a lot of anxiety,” said Kristen Baluyot, Social Services Director for Salvation Army.
If the Salvation Army can’t find funding elsewhere they may have to close the two shelters, putting 90 homeless people back on the street. Someone please get out there and get Salvation Army’s money.
