The city of Albany has announced that the now-closed Mercy House shelter will reopen in the fall. Previously run by Catholic Charities, it operated as a women’s and children’s shelter. It will now be run by Interfaith Partners for the Homeless, and operate as men’s & women’s shelter, with 14 beds for men and six for women. Executive Director Janine Robitaille says a meeting will be held with neighbors to address the concerns of the behavior of former residents of the shelter, and how things will change going forward.
