Fairfield’s First Shelter
The city of Fairfield opened the doors to twelve tiny homes for people experiencing homelessness. The city said it cost more than $800,000 to build the units and has chosen Mission Samoa, a nonprofit organization, to help run the site. “I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, and that’s the biggest problem in Fairfield is the recidivism of people coming back,” said director Gene Ahu. Clients are able to stay through a referral.
